The three-day-old baby born on March 26, along with her 26-year-old mother, has tested positive for coronavirus. He allegedly caught te virus after being put on an empty bed by a Kovid-19 patient.
The child and her mother have shifted to Kurla Babha Hospital on Tuesday and later again to the Nodal Center of Kasturba Hospital for all coronavirus cases in Mumbai. The family alleges that they came to know about the lapse when a doctor called and asked them to undergo a coronavirus test. The family has claimed that no employee of Chembur Hospital came to them for investigation when he was admitted. She was later transferred to another room. The newborn's father, who works as a manager in a restaurant, is placed in quarantine at Kasturba Hospital, which is treating 120 Kovid-19 patients. Experts suggested that the possibility of the mother becoming infected while giving birth cannot be ruled out. The family was at home for 10 days during the lockdown before coming to the hospital. Chembur Hospital has been closed for sanitation of all surfaces.
The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra rose from 33 to 335 on Wednesday, while six patients died, while the death toll rose to 16.
An official said that thirty of the new cases were found in Mumbai alone, two in Pune and one in Buldhana
