As Nitish Kumar gets ready for his tenth oath ceremony in Bihar, the NDA completes power-sharing.
The power-sharing arrangement for creating the next government in Bihar has been finalized between the BJP and JD(U). For the tenth time, Nitish Kumar is scheduled to take the oath of office as chief minister.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, JD(U) working national president Sanjay Jha, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan Singh), and BJP president JP Nadda decided to move forward with the "one minister for every six MLAs" formula in a late-night meeting on Saturday.
On November 20, 2025, Nitish will take the oath of office at Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan, following the NDA's resounding victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other chief ministers from other NDA-ruled states are expected to attend the event, which is anticipated to be a tremendous show of strength.
Gandhi Maidan will be closed to the public from November 17 to 20 in order to make extensive preparations. According to reports, the NDA would formally assert its claim to form the new government following the existing cabinet's final meeting prior to resignation.
The legislative leaders of the NDA's partners, JD(U), BJP, LJP, HAM, and RLM, will be selected. Out of the 243-member assembly, the BJP won 89 seats and JD(U) won 85 in the most recent two-phase election. The NDA has secured a solid three-fourth majority with 202 seats.
In addition to becoming the biggest party, the BJP achieved its highest strike rate to date. According to sources, the NDA partners have decided on the makeup of the cabinet. JD(U) might receive about 14 ministry slots based on the six MLAs per minister formula. The LJP (Ram Vilas) is anticipated to gain three seats, while the BJP may receive fifteen to sixteen. Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM and Upendra Kushwaha's party could each receive a minister.
The NDA has only won more than 200 seats in Bihar twice in history; the first time was in 2010, when the coalition secured 206 seats. By comparison, the Congress won six seats, the RJD won twenty-five, and the Mahagathbandhan only won thirty-five.
According to a ground report, Gandhi Maidan is undergoing extensive preparations in advance of the oath-taking ceremony. Senior administrative officials from Patna and Bihar arrived in a long caravan to oversee the preparations. The venue is undergoing stringent security checks because high-ranking national leaders are anticipated to attend.
SPG teams are expected to arrive shortly, and security guards have been stationed throughout the entire area. The site is anticipated to undergo a full makeover in the coming days as trucks bringing infrastructure materials and stage equipment begin to unload.
For his tenth term as Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar will once more take the oath of office at Gandhi Maidan. However, the cabinet will be sworn in in two stages: first, senior ministers will be sworn in, and then there will be an enlargement.
